[NEWS] FAO Launches Initiative to Scale Up Agroecology in Support of the SDGs

The second International Symposium on Agricultural Ecology was held in Rome, Italy, from April 3rd to 5th, 2018.

The second International Symposium on Ecological Agriculture, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), concluded the launch of a global initiative to expand agricultural ecosystems in support of the sustainable development goals.

Participants discussed how to expand the agricultural ecosystem so as to bring benefits to multiple sustainable development goals. They launched the “Expanding Agricultural Ecology Initiative” as a framework for cooperative action and partnership in agroecology.

They also launched the 2018 Future Policy Awards Competition, which will recognize the best supportive policies for agroecology.
